Research

From its inception, the Department of Psychology at UCSB has deliberately cultivated an identity and reputation based on empirical, primarily experimental investigation of a wide range of human and animal behavior from a number of over-lapping perspectives. Faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students, and professional researchers carry out research in one or more of four graduate training areas: Cognition, Perception & Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental and Evolutionary Psychology, Neuroscience and Behavior, and Social Psychology. As a group, the faculty have outstanding records of research productivity and an impressive and growing record of extramural funding. They receive both national and international recognition for their scholarly achievements, and are involved to an exceptionally high degree in cutting edge multi- and inter-disciplinary research and training activities.
